Parady LaOn 6 January, Parady La was disappeared by ICE federal agents. His family found La’s keys at home, but he was gone. While ICE agents were shooting Renée Nicole Good to death in Minneapolis, La was on the floor of an ICE detention center in Philadelphia writhing in pain and screaming for help.

La was a husband, a father, a brother, and an uncle. People loved him. Witnesses said that La desperately needed medical care, which ICE staff denied. Eventually transferred to Jefferson hospital, La’s family was notified on 9 January that La was dead.

Substance withdrawal can cause death, but it is not slow, and it is not a silent death.

Multiple witnesses said La was screaming for help and vomiting. The sounds of a man suffering would have been impossible for staff not to hear, witnesses said.

The people working in that facility killed La.
